Goal – A course in the ground

SSDG has a major goal, and that is to get a course into the ground. For this to happen, there are a number of hurdles to overcome before we establish the first permanent course in the area. At the moment, its a trip to Stokesley or Dunbar and there is nothing in between for disc golfers.

We are looking to work with the local council to establish a course with fixed baskets. As you can imagine, we need to 1) Raise the profile of the sport 2) Explain the ask 3) Satisfy health and safety 4) establish a course plan 5) Get the council on board 6) seek / raise funding 7) get building.

Simple?

Where are we now Jan 2023. Work was done by the Newcastle disc golf club around Temple park. A plan was drawn up, but there has been no further progress. With the rebirth of the club as South Shields discgolf, our next steps are to reengage with the council and move forward.
